Off Campus: The Deal is the latest in Prime Video’s series of adaptations based on more and more bestselling novels. Briar University is the setting for Elle Kennedy’s bestselling sports romance novel. The story follows the emotional and complicated relationship of Hannah Wells and Garrett Graham.
Hannah has carried the emotional scars of a traumatic past for years. She’s a music major trying to get over it, but ends up falling for football player Justin Kohl and can’t seem to make the first move. Her academic talent shown in a philosophy exam and life takes an unexpected twist.
Briar’s star hockey captain, Garrett Graham, also flunks the test, putting both his future as a pro hockey player and his GPA at risk. Garrett has no one else to turn to, so he makes an unusual proposal to Hannah. He offers to fake-date her in exchange for tutoring him, thinking it will boost her confidence and social life on campus.
What starts out as a simple arrangement soon gets a whole lot messier when an unexpected kiss changes everything. Garrett has never been one to get serious with a girl but he is really starting to fall for Hannah. Hannah starts to realize that she may have feelings for Garrett beyond friendship.
What does Phil say that threatens Hannah?
When Garrett is suspended for fighting in Hannah’s defense, his father, Phil Graham, calls her up personally.
Phil, who has made his own reputation in hockey, is adamant he wants Garrett to be 100 per cent focused on his future. He warns Hannah if Garrett chooses their relationship over his career, he could lose everything. Phil also threatens to cut Garrett off financially, in the hope Hannah will back out before Garrett sacrifices his professional aspirations.
How Does Hannah Break Up With Garrett?
Hannah begins to pull away from Garrett, trapped by Phil’s warning.
Garrett, feeling the sudden space between them, went to her dorm room, looking for answers. Hannah tells him that things are moving too fast between them and she wants to date other people before getting into anything serious.
Garrett is devastated, but eventually he realizes that Hannah never actually starts seeing anyone else, leading him to wonder what the real reason for their break-up is.
What Will Happen When Hannah Moves On?
Hannah is heartbroken, but she channels her energy into her music, even performing at Briar’s Winter Showcase, where she beats her longtime rival, Cassidy, to win the grand prize of $5,000.
Garrett tries to talk to her after but Hannah stays away and goes home for Christmas.
On New Year’s Hannah calls Garrett to wish him a happy birthday. Garrett casually asks her if she’s seeing anyone during their conversation. Hannah realizes her lie is falling apart, and she’s decided to really try to move on.
But suddenly all the guys on campus don’t want to go out with her.
Hannah discovers that Garrett has secretly started a secret “no-dating” policy on campus to keep people from getting too involved with her.
Hannah and Garrett get together?

When Garrett confronts him about the campus rule, he presses Hannah to tell him the truth about their breakup. Finally, Hannah spills about Phil’s threats.
Then, Garrett tells Hannah something she didn’t know: his maternal grandparents left him a huge inheritance which he was able to access when he turned twenty-one. This means he is free from the need of his father’s money or approval.
Garrett tells her, flat out, that Phil is no longer in charge of his life, and Hannah realizes she never had to push him away.
The two are reconciled, with Garrett admitting he never thought they were really broken up to begin with.
How does the deal finish?
Months later, Garrett guides the Briar University hockey team to the Frozen Four championship.
He opens up to his teammates and closest friends for the first time about the abuse he suffered at the hands of his father.
Phil shows up at the championship game expecting to be recognized, but Garrett and his teammates refuse to acknowledge him, telling him his influence is over.
Finally free from the past, Hannah and Garrett celebrate Briar’s greatest victory together, ready to build a future defined by love, trust, and new beginnings.
