Euphoria is back with its much anticipated third season, throwing fans right back into the lives of former East Highland students. Years later, the series picks up with a new chapter, older characters, new challenges and storylines that reflect the realities of adulthood.
With the newest season underway, many fans are asking the big question, will Euphoria come back for Season 4? Here’s what we now know.
What is Euphoria?
Euphoria season 3 jumps forward five years, catching up with the characters years after high school. Life has continued, but not always as they pictured.
Now in Mexico, Rue is in debt and looking for an exit. Jules is going to art school and trying to make it as an artist, building a new life for herself.
Maddy has moved to Hollywood and is working at a talent agency while juggling a few side projects. Lexi has moved into television, with a hit showrunner.
A lot of Cassie’s time is spent online comparing her own reality to the perfect lives she sees on social media.
As lives move apart, each character deals with adulthood, personal development and the consequences of past decisions.
Is Euphoria being renewed for Season 4?
As of this writing, Euphoria has not officially been renewed for Season 4.
HBO usually considers a few things when renewing a show including ratings, audience retention, critic reception and overall engagement.
Some shows get renewed quickly, while others may take months to receive a final decision.
Season 3 has been the subject of a lot of online chatter and a ton of fan interest, but critics and viewers have been lukewarm. Some viewers have praised the character development and mature storytelling, while others have questioned a few creative choices.
But there are plenty of signs that Season 3 could be the end of the road, despite the hype surrounding the new season.
Why There Might Not Be A Season 4
One big reason comes from Zendaya herself. In a recent interview, when asked if Season 3 would be the end of the series, she said, probably yes.
And with no confirmed plans for Season 4 at this time, the creator of the series, Sam Levinson, has also said in the past that he treats each season as if it could be the last.
Now of course things can change with television decisions, especially if there is a continued audience demand and HBO sees long term potential with the franchise.
But judging by what the cast and creatives are saying now, Season 4 doesn’t seem to be in the cards at this time.
What Might Happen in Season 4?
There’s no official renewal announcement, so there are no confirmed story details for a potential fourth season as of yet.
That said, if the series does go on, a future season could look at where these characters are later in life and maybe bring in new generations or even expand the story with a spin-off.
As for Euphoria, the future is up in the air.
We will keep this page updated as soon as HBO releases official news about Season 4.
