Ticket to Heaven is set in 1996. It tells the story of Tanrak, an orphan who has wanted to become an ordained monk his whole life. He is confident that his life’s work in faith will one day allow him to join his parents in heaven. Tanrak is admired by teachers and students as a model of dedication and discipline of the seminary school.
His firm convictions are challenged when Father Arnon asks him to mentor Barth, a rebellious, troubled newcomer. Barth, unlike Tanrak, no longer believes in God and is fighting a painful past. The seminary is his last chance at a new beginning after an incident that prevents him from enrolling anywhere else.
Contrasting beliefs and personalities make the two teenagers at odds with one another. But as they spend more time together their relationship begins to grow into something deeper. Tanrak’s growing feelings make him doubt everything he had believed in, pitting his faith against his future and his heart in an emotional conflict.
