My Family – Season 2 Episode 1 Recap And Review 2026

The premiere of My Family Season 2 comes a year after Fausto’s death and shows the depth of the impact of his absence on all those he left behind. In a dream, Valerio sees Fausto who urges him to bring the family back together, but not to forget his own happiness.

But the real story is far less rosy. The family is still split, Ercole living at home and Libero opting to live in a group home. Valerio and Lucia try and try again, but Libero does not want to come back or to get in touch with his relatives. His choice is still a sore spot within the family, with many slamming Valerio for being so patient and understanding.

While wrestling with these issues, Valerio stumbles upon a collection of personal videos made by Fausto prior to his death. These recordings act as a means for Fausto to reflect on his own life and relationships, providing an emotional window into the family’s past.

Things get more complicated when Fausto’s estranged father, Gaetano, arrives. Gaetano is shocked to learn that his son has died. He has been away for years. Valerio is angry and immediately dismisses his presence, feeling he has no place in their lives after years of disappointment and neglect. Lucia begins to feel sorry for him, but most of the family agree with this.

Meanwhile, Maria comes back from Spain with her new boyfriend, Pau. Her arrival creates an awkward situation for Demetrio, who continues to deny his feelings for her despite obvious jealousy. While trying to pretend that nothing has changed, the emotional tension between the two is left unresolved.

Gaetano’s life takes an unexpected turn when a health scare lands him in the hospital. After discharge, Lucia lets him spend a night at the family home. Valerio vehemently objects, he wants him out of here as soon as possible. Gaetano, instead, starts to grow closer to Ercole, even flirting with Lucia, increasing the awkwardness in the house.

Meanwhile, Sergio plans a small celebration to honor his relationship with Lucia. Things get weird when Gaetano starts openly questioning if Sergio is good enough for her, adding to the tension between all parties.

Valerio’s frustration grows as his family criticizes the way he is handling Libero’s situation. He feels he is not being supported and dares Maria to do it if she thinks she can do it better.

Elsewhere Demetrio struggles with his emotions while living with Maria and Pau. Up close and personal, their relationship only magnifies the feelings he refuses to acknowledge.

Valerio also gets in touch with Valeria again, but the reunion is quickly emotionally charged. He stands up for her in an altercation, but then pulls away again, leaving her confused by his mixed messages.

Back home, tensions finally reach breaking point when Valerio finds Gaetano and his mother watching Fausto’s private videos. He turns on them in a rage, accusing Gaetano of being a bad father. Feeling betrayed when his mother refuses to support him, Valerio runs away from the house.

Fausto’s recordings add a new dimension to the emotional conflict as he reflects on Valerio’s childhood. Fausto said Valerio spent much of his life looking for approval and affection that rarely came. The video is a gut-wrenching portrayal of someone who has always put others first, but has received little recognition in return.

Before he leaves, Gaetano hints that Valerio has been kept in the dark about a big truth for years, suggesting that Lucia and others are keeping a big secret from him.

Valerio has nowhere to go and asks Valeria if he can live with her. Later he gets a call from Libero, thanking him for being a nice uncle and telling him that it’s not Valerio’s fault that he’s at the group home. The conversation finally breaks Valerio’s emotional defenses and he is simultaneously overcome with grief and relief.
