Elsewhere, Agott, Richeh and Euini are still on the run from the Brimmed Cap. Euini uses his cloak to make the group invisible and for a moment the plan seems to be working.
But his changed camouflage causes the myrkos to panic when they find out he is a human. Their confusion betrays their position, and the Brimmed Cap finds them again.
Agott, quick to think, stops the road in front of them, and Richeh makes a sled to carry them across the icy way. Agott kicks the sled forward with her Sylph Shoes, providing the group with their best chance of escape.
The sequence underlines Agott’s development as a witch and as a leader. She is calm under pressure, and uses everything she’s learned to keep her friends safe.# Agott Takes a Big Risk
And eventually Agott realizes that the Brimmed Cap is really searching for Coco. To protect her friend, she gives up the sled and lies that Coco’s memories are already gone.
The Brimmed Cap immediately detects the lie.
The witch captures Agott, accuses her of lying, and starts drawing a seal on her wounded arm, making it one of the most disturbing scenes of the episode. This scene is a demonstration of the Brimmed Cap’s ruthlessness.
Richeh and Euini manage to save her, breaking the path out from under their enemy, dragging Agott to safety. Unhappily, they don’t realize that the Brimmed Cap has been hovering over the ground all the time.# Euini’s Transformation Stuns Everyone
The emotional climax of the episode is the scene where the Brimmed Cap attacks Euini and turns him into a monster.
The style of animation changes abruptly, the world turns colorless, almost monochrome. This visual difference creates a transformation that is very unsettling and unnatural.

Coco, meanwhile, wakes with Qifrey and Tetia at the base of the ruins. Qifrey is wounded, and his protective camouflage is no longer functional.
The old citizens of Romonon will soon arrive.
These golden figures are filled with hatred for witches and immediately focus on Qifrey. Coco and Tetia panic, but Qifrey steps forward calmly, promising to protect them.
The episode ends with a strong visual of him about to perform a spell. Qifrey becomes a light in the darkness, positioning himself between danger and his students.

Episode 13 is a better look at the complicated nature of forbidden magic than any other chapter thus far.

Euini’s change poses difficult questions for the characters. Maybe the only way to save him is to study the very magic that caused his pain.
