Dear Killer Nannies – Episode 6 “Losing Hope” Recap & Review

In “Losing Hope,” the sixth episode of Dear Killer Nannies, Juan starts to feel like a child again when he spends time with the nannies. The story then jumps to 1989, when they take him to a club to celebrate his birthday.

Juan drinks a lot at the club and starts talking to a woman. Rodrigo sees a man trying to attack Juan, and the mood quickly becomes dangerous. He tells Lagaña, and the nannies quickly step in, killing the attacker and taking Juan to safety. The event shows that the threat was connected to a hit ordered by the Cali Cartel.

Tina also tells the group that cartel interference is getting in the way of their work. After the attack on Garcia, both Pablo and the nannies are now wanted, and they could be sent back to their home country. When El Dorado blames Lagaña for letting the attacker into the club, things get tense, but Tina is able to calm things down. In another part of the story, Angie stops talking to Rodrigo and starts to distance herself from him.

Victoria is getting more and more worried about Juan’s behavior as he becomes more withdrawn and starts drinking. Since Pablo is still hiding and they don’t talk much, she writes him letters. She gives Juan the keys to a spare apartment in the hopes of giving him some freedom. Juan says that because of Pablo’s bad reputation, it has become almost impossible to find trustworthy workers.

The episode introduces Margaret, who is Victoria’s assistant and takes care of her art. Angie brings her into Juan’s circle and tells her that they will be living together. El Dorado leaves Lagaña and Rodrigo in charge of Juan while he goes away with Tina.

Rodrigo offers to help Juan get back in touch with Andrea without anyone knowing, and he sets up a private meeting. In another bad turn of events, Lagaña forces Margaret to drink and do drugs, which makes her lose control and end up with him. Rodrigo, who is still trying to fix things with Angie, wonders if they can leave their violent lives behind, but Angie is still unsure.

Later, Angie tells Lagaña that El Dorado and Tina killed Luis Carlos Galán, who was running for president. Then she sees her father, gives him money, and is told to get back in touch with her sister. Rodrigo sees this meeting and thinks there is betrayal, but Angie tells him what is going on. She also talks about a very personal loss: she lost their child when she miscarried during the attack on Garcia.

As news of Galán’s death spreads, news organizations start showing pictures of the nannies as possible suspects. Margaret, still high, sees Lagaña in the news and freaks out before passing out. The group takes her to Pablo, who threatens to kill her if she doesn’t shut up. They are holding her hostage so she can’t tell anyone about them.

Juan meets Andrea in public, but things get violent when someone walking by insults him. Rodrigo acts on impulse and attacks the man, which gets him arrested. At the same time, Angie’s father sets a trap for her when she tries to meet her sister. A government official comes up to her and says, “Betray Pablo and work with us.”

The story then moves on to 1994. Victoria, Juan, Andrea, and Manuela come to Mozambique with their lawyer, but they have to live in bad conditions. The lawyer says they should be thankful, but Juan has a hard time accepting a life without money or comfort. People start to get angry when they don’t have enough food, water, and basic necessities.

Juan can’t take it anymore and goes to the lawyer’s hotel to confront him and accuse him of betrayal. The lawyer says he is working to wash their money from Colombia and asks for their patience. Victoria backs Juan and tells the lawyer to find a way to get them home as soon as possible.

The Review of the Episode

“Losing Hope” has a lot of important plot points, but it also shows one of the show’s ongoing problems: too much filler. Margaret’s story doesn’t feel fully developed and is too similar to storylines from previous episodes. It doesn’t add anything new or interesting.

Even so, this episode sets up the end of the series, which only has two episodes left. Angie’s emotional turmoil is especially interesting because her faith in Pablo and his empire starts to fade after she loses both her partner and their child. It’s not clear if she will betray him, but it’s clear that the stage is being set for a big change.

Rodrigo’s arrest adds even more stress. Because Juan trusts him, Rodrigo, not Angie, could be the one to betray him in the end. With so many storylines coming together, the last few episodes will need to give us big payoffs to make up for the slow build we’ve seen so far.
