Ready or Not 2: Here I Come (2026) Movie Review – A delightfully bloody sequel

We are so happy that Grace is back in the same wedding dress, but this time she is being hunted by new enemies. Ready or Not was one of the newer horror comedies that came out in 2019. It had a lot of dark humor and bloody action scenes. Ready or Not 2: Here I Come still manages to be a fun ride through a string of thrills and bloodshed, even though it has been a while and there have been a lot of similar movies made.

Story Setup: Picking Up Right After the Original

The movie starts right after the first one ends. Grace passes out outside the Le Domas’ mansion and wakes up in a hospital to find her emergency contact waiting for her. It’s her sister Faith, whom she hasn’t spoken to in years. But there isn’t time for a nice reunion because Grace is being attacked again. She and Faith are sent to a fancy resort where they meet the Council, a group of six wealthy families that Le Bail has ordered to meet.

The Game Returns: Higher Stakes and Deadlier Rules

Grace won the game with the Le Domas family, so now she gets to play Hide and Seek again to try to win the High Seat of the council. In the end, Grace and Faith are handcuffed together and trying to run away from and fight with the Council members. This time, Grace and Faith are always fighting about their long-standing feud as they chase each other through the resort’s lobbies, golf course, and wedding halls.

Cast and Performances: Strong Characters Shine

In Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, Samara Weaving makes a triumphant and convincing return as Grace. Kathryn Newton plays her more practical sister, who is a nice emotional foil for Grace. The bad guys in the movie also come from different backgrounds and have different personalities, which is nice to see compared to the Le Domas family members.

Supporting Characters: Memorable Villains and Roles

As the Danforth twins, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Shawn Hatosy make a great team. They are determined to keep their High Seat while dealing with their own complicated sibling relationship. Elijah Wood does a great job as Le Bail’s lawyer, but the movie could have used more of his creepy politeness.

Themes: Wealth, Power, and Modern Commentary

Even though Ready or Not 2 is a direct sequel to the 2019 movie, it still feels very much like a movie from 2026. In Ready or Not 2, billionaires and capitalism are the bad guys, just like in a lot of other movies and TV shows from this time. The fact that most of the movie takes place on the huge grounds of the Danforth casino resort and that all the elite families live in luxury shows this.

Social Message: Style Over Depth

But this is all the commentary says. The movie doesn’t go any deeper into the theme. Ready or Not 2 isn’t about giving billionaires a hard time in a meaningful way; it’s about taking them down. That’s fine! Not every movie needs to have a deep, socially relevant message. Some people just need a lot of action, like bodies blowing up.

Emotional Core: Grace and Faith’s Relationship

The same can’t be said for Grace and Faith’s relationship, which is a recurring theme throughout the movie. There are many times when their estranged relationship comes up, and being chained together in a life-or-death situation seems like the best time to talk about it. We do get the fighting, arguing, and unique brand of comedy that comes from this planned situation, but the payoff isn’t as high.

Character Conflict: Missed Emotional Impact

The main event that caused the sisters to fight isn’t very exciting, which makes the rest of the argument less interesting. The “billionaires are bad” idea doesn’t need to be expanded on any more, but a more detailed relationship between Grace and Faith would have made their fight for survival even more interesting.

Action and Twist: A Fresh Dynamic

Even though there are a few problems with this, chaining Grace to her sister is an interesting twist. Faith’s presence gives the action scenes a new twist, and the tension between her and Grace adds something new to the sequel as a whole. Plus, their usual sibling fights are funny, especially when they’re trying to get away from the people who are after them.

Gore and Entertainment: Pure Bloody Fun

The extra blood and guts in this movie all come together to make a satisfying bloody fight between the weaker women and their stronger enemies. Until the end, which has another great set of plot twists and a new dress! The main characters are easy to cheer for, the bad guys are fun to hate, and the fast-paced action keeps you interested the whole time.

Final Verdict: Flawed but Entertaining Sequel

The story’s forward motion actually keeps you from looking too closely at the details. The rules of the game, in particular, aren’t very clear and leave some holes at the end. But as we said before, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come isn’t about beating the system; it’s about giving people pure, unfiltered fun. And in that sense, you’re going to have a great time.
