Will Trent – Season 4 Episode 16 Recap & Review

The beginning of Episode 16 of Will Trent Season 4 is very sad. Trent finds Amanda’s body outside the restaurant, but Adelaide gets away. The police get there within minutes, and the GBI officers realize how serious the situation is. Angie steps in and tells Trent to let the forensic team do their job. Trent is already upset, and when a technician calls Amanda “a body,” he gets angry.

Trent Begins His Investigation

Amanda is taken away soon after, and Trent goes straight to the office, determined to figure out what happened in her last days. He tells Caroline to put together everything Amanda had been working on in the weeks before she died. When Appleyard tries to get into Amanda’s office, things get tense and Evelyn has to step in to calm things down. Before leaving, Appleyard gives a short message of sympathy.

Amanda’s Secret Investigation Revealed

Evelyn later tells Trent and Faith something shocking: Amanda had been secretly working with an FBI agent to keep an eye on Adelaide and her followers. They are shocked by the news. Caroline quickly sends Amanda a digital copy of her calendar, which could help her plan her investigation. Trent realizes that Amanda probably used a hidden car to avoid being seen when they talk about her car. He asks Caroline to look into it more.

Witness Clues and Rising Suspicion

In the meantime, Angie gives the team a witness statement. A bystander said they saw a silver sedan dumping something near the curb, but they could only give part of the license plate number. Trent turns his attention to the bartender, thinking he might be one of Adelaide’s followers, while Angie tells everyone to be careful.

Discovery of Amanda’s Undercover Trail

The team finally finds Amanda’s undercover car in a different spot. Trent, Faith, Ormewood, and Franklin get there and see signs that Amanda had been watching the area. Trent finds her broken glasses, which proves that she was there. They find evidence inside the building that Antonio had been held there, but it looks like the people who did it left not long ago.

Trent Loses Control

Trent runs after a man who is leaving one of the rooms after hearing a loud noise. The suspect makes fun of Amanda’s death when confronted, which pushes Trent over the edge. He attacks the man violently, almost killing him before Ormewood and Franklin step in.

Autopsy Report and Key Breakthrough

Evelyn goes to the morgue at the station to get Amanda’s autopsy report. Pete says that Amanda died quickly from stab wounds that were fatal, but he was able to get DNA evidence from under her nails. The killer is a schoolteacher who is one of Adelaide’s followers. Evelyn spends some time alone with Amanda in silence, trying to find closure.

Team Conflict and Emotional Fallout

Faith confronts Trent at work and blames him for both Amanda’s death and the investigation’s current state. Their already bad relationship starts to break down even more. When Franklin gives Faith a new lead about groceries found at the scene, she refuses to work with Trent. Ormewood works with him instead, and Faith works with Franklin.

The Teacher’s House Discovery

Their search takes them to the teacher’s house, where they find the silver sedan in the garage and the teacher’s body in the trunk. It’s clear that Adelaide is methodically tying up loose ends. If they want to solve the case, Ormewood tells Trent to keep his cool.

New Threats and “The Commander”

Angie says that their suspect in the hospital has also been killed, which changes things. Gunfire breaks out nearby soon after. Trent and Ormewood meet a man named Alexander, who is also known as “The Commander.” Adelaide had told him to kill him. When they catch Alexander, he doesn’t want to help at first. Trent talks about how important Amanda is to him instead. Alexander agrees to tell Adelaide’s followers who they are when he realizes he has no protection.

Uncovering Adelaide’s Motive

The police quickly gather the followers, most of whom seem to be regular people with boring jobs. One of them gives important financial information that shows why Adelaide did what she did. It turns out that her father, Ulster, hid his money so he wouldn’t have to pay back debts. Adelaide has been trying to get that money back.

Following the Money Trail

Franklin follows the money to Janice, who used to be engaged to Ulster. After talking to her, he finds out how Adelaide plans to get the money. With this information, the team sets up a trap.

Final Confrontation at the Park

Trent meets Adelaide at a park where she plans to pick up the money. She shows a live video of Antonio tied up and tells Trent to kill himself in exchange for Antonio’s life. Trent won’t go along with it. Adelaide then threatens to kill herself, knowing that she is the only person who knows where Antonio is.

Adelaide’s Death and Chaos

As things get worse, Trent is able to get in for a short time, but a gunshot sends the crowd into a frenzy. Adelaide tries to get away, but Faith stops her. Trent has to shoot her when she tries to pull out a hidden weapon.

Antonio’s Rescue and Emotional Reunion

Trent finds Antonio by following a clue from the live feed: the sound of trains going by. Adelaide is dead. After an intense search, he finally finds him alive. The reunion is emotional and well-deserved.

Hospital Conversation and Closure

Trent tells Antonio at the hospital that he should go home once he gets better. Antonio asks why the decision was made, but Trent says he’s sorry for everything that has happened. Antonio tells him that none of it is his fault and thanks him for saving him.

Amanda’s Memorial

Later, the GBI has a meeting to remember Amanda. Trent doesn’t go, but Faith, Evelyn, and the rest of the team give heartfelt tributes.

Review of the Episode

A Shocking Loss That Changes Everything

Amanda’s death is one of the most shocking parts of this episode. Her death leaves a huge hole in both my personal and professional life. She wasn’t just Trent’s mentor; she was also like a mother to him and had always kept him safe. Adelaide chose to go after her on purpose, with the goal of breaking Trent on a very personal level.

Power Struggles Within the GBI

The fallout happens right away. There is a power vacuum in the GBI, which makes people wonder who will lead the group in the future. If Appleyard gets involved, things are likely to get worse, especially since he and Trent don’t get along.

Emotional Fallout and Team Division

The emotional effects go beyond Trent. Faith is angry at him because she is grieving the loss of her aunt, which causes a big rift between them. Their partnership, which used to be strong, is now shaky. It’s still unclear if they can get past their shared grief, and this could affect the direction of the series in the future.
