Bloodhounds – Season 2 Episode 2 Recap & Review

Gun-woo and Woo-jin tell the police about the kidnapping at the start of Episode 2 of Bloodhounds Season 2. An officer tells Detective Choi Gyeong-won that the CCTV footage around the house has been tampered with. So-yeon gets medical help for her injuries.

Gun-woo and Woo-jin say that Baek-yeong had threatened them before, forcing Gun-woo to join his illegal boxing club. Gun-woo also says that Adik is missing and asks if Baek-yeong and his group are involved.

The police tell the group to move for their own safety. So Gun-woo, Woo-jin, and So-yeon move into Tae-yeong’s apartment.

In the meantime, Detective Gyeong-won looks into a burned car and finds out that a homemade bomb was put inside and set off from a distance using a mobile device. The authorities think that someone with technical knowledge probably made the bomb. Gyeong-won finds a burned wallet at the scene that has the business card of bodyguard So Jin-nam in it.

Woo-jin tells Tae-yeong to look into IKFC when they get back to her apartment. She can’t find anything through regular online searches, but she eventually gets to the dark web and finds a secret website for the fight club. A video shows how brutal and violent the matches are. She tries to get information about upcoming fights but hits a paywall. She then warns the group about the dangers of using personal financial information on the dark web. Gun-woo says that to get a mule card, you should call Woo-jin’s old Marine senior, Mr. Moon Gwang-mu.

Sergeant Yun and Allen, who have been watching the group, also follow Woo-jin to keep an eye on where he goes.

In another place, In-beom takes a pill from Mr. Lee and quickly starts to have convulsions. The ambulance driver attacks one of the guards and drives the vehicle to Mr. Lee’s hideout while the guards hurry to get medical help. There, a doctor gives In-beom an antidote, which brings him back to life.

Mr. Lee tells In-beom that he can’t leave once he wakes up. He tries to fight his way out and knocks out a few guards. But Baek-yeong steps in and beats him up badly until he gives up.

In the meantime, Woo-jin meets Gwang-mu and tells him about Baek-yeong and the illegal fight club. He asks Gwang-mu for help getting a mule card, and Gwang-mu agrees. He also says he will help take down Baek-yeong. Gwang-mu sends Woo-jin away to see if he is being followed.

Gwang-mu finds the license plate number of the car following Woo-jin and starts chasing it. He also tells Woo-jin to get Gun-woo, So-yeon, and Tae-yeong out of there because it’s no longer safe.

Gun-woo asks Min-beom for help because he doesn’t have many choices. Min-beom’s helper hides So-yeon and Tae-yeong in one of his hotels. Gun-woo then gets on a motorcycle and goes to help Woo-jin and Gwang-mu.

In the meantime, Sergeant Yun calls Baek-yeong and suggests changing their plan by kidnapping Woo-jin instead of So-yeon, thinking that this would work just as well to control Gun-woo. Baek-yeong agrees and tells Mr. Lee to send more troops.

Yun tricks Woo-jin and Gwang-mu into going to an empty yard and fights them. When he can’t beat Woo-jin, he gets more violent by using knives and cutting Woo-jin’s wrist over and over again.

Yun and Allen leave when backup fighters show up. They plan to attack Gun-woo or his mother. Gun-woo has already made sure they are safe, though. Yun is angry and tells Baek-yeong, who threatens his daughter if he fails again.

Gun-woo comes to the yard soon after and sees that Woo-jin and Gwang-mu are badly hurt. He fights off the last attackers and takes them to the hospital, which ends the episode.

Bloodhounds Season 2 looks like it might have trouble living up to the level of intensity and execution of Season 1. The main dynamic between Gun-woo and Woo-jin is still strong, but the sense of danger is lessening.

Baek-yeong is supposed to be the main bad guy, but he doesn’t seem as threatening as he should. His goals and actions so far don’t make things as tense or urgent as they were in earlier conflicts in the series.

Even so, the season could still get better. There are still a few episodes left, and some familiar allies are starting to regroup. The story may still build toward a more interesting and high-stakes plot.

Right now, though, the show feels like it’s still figuring things out instead of giving fans the exciting momentum they were hoping for.
