Nakamura reads BL manga and takes notes at the beginning of Episode 2 of Go for It, Nakamura! Lovable Lunches is his favorite series, so he looks it over carefully to figure out what to say to Hirose.
A group of girls talks about a new anime the next morning and how it reminds them of BL. One of them sees a cockroach on the floor and runs away screaming, which stops their conversation. Students start shouting, running around, and even running away as if something terrible is happening right away.
Nakamura walks to class half-asleep, not knowing what’s going on. One of the girls grabs him and pushes him inside before he knows what’s going on. She tells him to deal with the bug.
Nakamura doesn’t like bugs, but he’s stuck in this situation. The class quickly gives him the job and cheers him on like he’s a hero. At that moment, Hirose shows up and gives Nakamura the extra push he needs. He thinks of a similar moment from Lovable Lunches and sees this as his chance to impress him.
He puts his notebook on top of the cockroach and plans to take it to the window. But he gets distracted by thinking about how impressed Hirose will be, which gives the bug time to crawl off the notebook and into his clothes.
Nakamura is frozen in place and doesn’t know what to do, and the class is even more scared. Without thinking, Hirose steps in, reaches into Nakamura’s blazer, and quickly finds the cockroach. He calmly brings it to the window and lets it go outside.
Hirose turns around and sees Nakamura crying. It’s not because he’s scared; it’s because he’s so close to his crush.
Nakamura keeps reading Lovable Lunches during lunch in the hopes of getting more ideas. He slips and falls on his way back to class. Nakamura jumps up so quickly when Hirose checks on him that he leaves his manga on the ground. Hirose picks it up, but Nakamura quickly says it isn’t his. Hirose asks people, but no one says it’s theirs, so the teacher gets the book.
Nakamura goes to the teacher’s office after school to get a permission slip for his bike and sees Otogiri reading the manga. The teacher says that it’s actually pretty good, but the owner is probably too ashamed to say so. He also says that the reader seems a little naive about love.
Nakamura goes to a manga store to buy another copy because he lost his. He goes straight to the BL section and looks through Lovable Lunches and other books. Hirose is there too, which surprises him. They say hello to each other, and for the first time, Hirose properly introduces himself, which makes Nakamura very happy.
They talk about manga, and Hirose tells him that it’s okay to like BL. Nakamura agrees, but he still feels bad about it. Nakamura gets scared when Hirose asks what he’s reading right now and grabs the first book he sees. Sadly, it turns out to be a clear BL title, which leaves Hirose speechless for a moment.

Once again, Go for It, Nakamura! has a mix of funny and very awkward moments. It’s easy to put yourself in Nakamura’s shoes, especially in the last scene at the bookstore, which is why the humor works so well. It gets that feeling of being so embarrassed that you can’t help but relate to it and find it hard to watch.
The ending credits fit this mood perfectly. The music stays happy, but the pictures change to show Nakamura sitting alone on his bed, hugging his knees in sadness. It seems like he’s thinking about everything that went wrong, and he might even be dreading going back to school. It is a simple but effective way to add another level of humor and character depth.
The episode also does a good job of naturally developing the relationship between Nakamura and Hirose. If the show only used the same embarrassing situations over and over, it could get boring very quickly. These interactions, on the other hand, make the story more interesting. As the story goes on, the show should pay more attention to its side characters, which is likely to happen.
