Needy Girl Overdose is about Ame, a young woman who is shy and struggling with her mental health. She starts livestreaming to get attention. She wants to be the most popular streamer on the internet under the name “OMGkawaiiAngel.” She is looking for followers, attention, and a sense of purpose.
But behind the scenes, her life is much less glamorous. Ame lives with her partner and manager, P-chan, and has trouble balancing her growing online presence with her increasingly fragile emotional state. The more popular she gets, the more stress she has to deal with, which leads to a cycle of highs and lows.
The series looks at the darker side of internet fame and asks if Ame’s journey can really lead to happiness. It does this by showing different story paths and endings.
