Chapter 5: Beyond the Grave is where James Bond’s journey takes a dramatic turn. Bond and Greenway continue their investigation into the Mauritanian desert, following the shocking discovery of 009’s body. This chapter features exploration, intense firefights, a perilous escape sequence, and a thrilling rooftop chase, all while including several important collectibles.
This guide contains all the major objectives, collectibles locations and key strategies to finish the chapter in an efficient manner.
Drive to the Transworld Wreck.
The chapter opens with Bond driving towards the distant wreck of the Transworld. A collapsed bridge blocks the way before the destination.
Exit the vehicle and proceed to the blue pipe next to the building. Climb up the pipe and then up onto the metal platform above. The bridge mechanism is controlled by two levers. First, pull the one furthest away, then the one nearest to Bond.
When the bridge falls, jump back in the car and go to the big shipwreck.
The investigation of the wreck
When you arrive at the crash site, go into the wreckage and start searching for clues.
With the Q-Lens the section is essential. Look around the environment for highlighted markers that will show you the right way forward. The path is pretty linear but there are a few traps scattered throughout the area so be careful.
Once you venture deeper into the wreck, you’ll eventually get to a raised bridge. Climb up the nearby drainpipe, then use the wires sticking out above you to get back in.
When you return to Greenway, search the nearby stack of barrels for:
Collectible Card #14 – 6 Shields
This collectible is easy to miss before progressing further in the mission.
Search for 009’s Hidden Stash
Clear the debris from the path, then proceed to 009’s secret hideout.
Thorough check of the room with the Q-Lens. The area is littered with many weapons, supplies and environmental clues. There are a few things of interest, but the most important is a mysterious briefcase that is hidden inside the stash.
The story moves forward, looking into it to set the next big sequence in motion.
Escape from the Shipwreck
Real soon the find in 009’s lair is a dangerous one as Bond and Greenway are attacked.
The first firefight must be patient. The entire region is wooded and this can be knocked out by continuous enemy fire so don’t stay in one place too long.
Instead of fighting from the main room, go through the side chamber on the right to get around the flank of any incoming enemies. It really cuts down incoming damage.
Proceed through the wreck, killing any hostile forces you encounter as you progress.
Winning the Upper Deck Battle
At the top of the stairwell is a larger combat arena.
On the upper platform there is a barricade but it is of little use and quickly blown up by the enemy. A better tactic is to take the sniper rifle from one of the soldiers near the stairs and go down to the lower level.
First, take out the enemy snipers. Red laser sights are visible from afar.
After the snipers were dead I focused on the explosive barrels near the enemy groups. A good shot can kill several enemies at the same time.
If ammo gets scarce, don’t forget about Bond’s sidearm. Still, the pistol remains surprisingly effective for accurate headshots throughout the encounter.
The Final Corridor Cleared
Following the larger battle, Bond must make his way through a long corridor full of enemies.
“Go ahead slowly, and use cover as much as possible. All too often this step is rushed and crossfire damage is taken that could have been avoided.
Bond passes Greenway briefly at the end of the corridor before heading into the final combat sequence of the chapter.
Trigger Mortis Award
The last showdown is staged to be played out regardless of performance.
Bond has only a pistol as wave after wave of enemies attack. You can kill all the attackers or just survive and eventually the scene resolves via a scripted event.
Finish the sequence to unlock:
Achievement: Trigger Mortis Take Greenway Home
Greenway escapes the wreck, but Bond drives him away.
This driving part is mostly cinematic For most of the journey the vehicle’s assist system automatically keeps Bond on course. Just follow the mission markers, especially at intersections, and you’ll get to where you want to go.
Undesirable
Return to Bond’s apartment and go straight to the bedroom without doing anything else.
A valuable collectible rests on the nightstand.
Intel #10 – Family pic
Make sure you pick this up before you check the note near the window.
The note, when read, sets off an ambush. Kill the first intruder in the bedroom area, walk through the apartment and kill a second attacker lurking in the kitchen.
Assassin’s Reach
The mission then turns into a tense cat-and-mouse game, with a sniper taking pot shots from nearby rooftops.
Bond has to creep along from cover to cover, staying out of the assassin’s line of sight. At this stage the Q-Watch is very useful.
Hack nearby items like lights, ventilation units and electrical devices to create distractions. These diversions divert the sniper’s attention from Bond.
Once the green targeting laser is no longer on you, move to the next cover.
Bond can cross exposed areas much more quickly with Dash, and it reduces his chances of being targeted.
Rooftop Chase Scene
Eventually Bond escapes to a construction crane, launching one of the chapter’s biggest action set pieces.
Cinematically, we follow a chase across rooftops, before Bond chases the mysterious shooter through the city.
After the chase and a spectacular tumble into the streets below, players are rewarded with:
Achievement: A tough guy to kill
Visit the Museum of Arts
The chase is over, proceed through the streets of London, following the objective marker towards the Arts Museum.
The museum entrance is the official end of Chapter 5, and the beginning of the next stage of Bond’s adventure.
