If Wishes Could Kill – K-drama Episode 4 Recap & Review

In the fourth episode of If Wishes Could Kill, Se-ah wakes up from a horrible nightmare where blood falls from the sky. She sees a girl with a cut throat and another girl attacking her. They are both wearing school uniforms, but you can’t see their faces. Haetsal wakes her up, and the nightmare is over. Se-ah quickly says she’s fine, and Haetsal gives her a bracelet to keep her safe and tells her not to take it off or answer calls or texts. She also tells Bang-wool to take care of the kids while they keep looking for the maehyung.

Ha-joon thanks his sister for her help and says he’s sad that she is stuck in the woods before he leaves. Bang-wool tells him not to worry; he will find a way to help her.

At the same time, Geon-woo sneaks out of the hospital and goes to Se-ah’s house, where he meets Na-ri. She lies about being sent by Se-ah’s aunt and acts like she’s helping him find his phone when she already has it.

In another part of the story, Ha-joon, Bang-wool, and Se-ah go to Ha-joon’s house to get Hyeong-wook’s laptop. They look into what he’s been up to lately to figure out how he found Gigiro. While they are looking for him, Hyeong-wook’s friend on Discord gets in touch with them. He thinks Hyeong-wook may be dead and is worried that he may be to blame. Bang-wool starts to think that this friend might have shown Hyeong-wook the app.

The friend sets up a meeting to give Hyeong-wook something he asked for, not knowing that he is actually dealing with Hyeong-wook’s friends. It turns out to be a trick. They use Ha-joon’s technical skills to find out where the meeting is and go there. Min Soo-san quickly realizes he is being followed and tries to get away, but he is caught after a chase on the roof.

Soo-san, who was scared and hurt during the chase, admits that he was Hyeong-wook’s friend and gave him drugs to help him deal with withdrawal symptoms. He also says that Hyeong-wook knew about the app and didn’t pay attention to its warnings. He talks about a post on the internet about the ghost of Seorin High that has Kwon Si-won and Do Hye-rung in it, but most of it has been taken down because of scary pictures.

While Bang-wool looks for Hye-rung’s house, Ha-joon looks through Hyeong-wook’s laptop and finds image metadata. They can only figure out what neighborhood she lives in because they don’t have enough information. Haetsal tells them to be careful as they look for things because the supernatural threat is getting worse.

The group finally finds Hye-rung’s neighborhood with the help of shamanic symbols. An old woman says that Hye-rung’s mother has died and confirms that Hye-rung is the girl in the picture that was found. She also gives them salt to keep them safe.

They break into Hye-rung’s house, which looks like it hasn’t been lived in for a while. Bang-wool feels a strong evil presence and makes a circle of salt around the group to protect them before going in by himself. Inside, he sees disturbing signs of ritual activity, such as a broken shrine, hidden walls, dead birds, and a lot of supernatural energy.

Se-ah accidentally steps out of the protective circle outside after a small distraction. She sees the spirit girl again, and this time she takes her to a shallow hole where she finds a talisman, a school uniform, and a picture of Hye-rung with another girl.

Bang-wool realizes that the protective barrier has been broken when he gets back. They send all of their findings to Haetsal, who still isn’t sure if Hye-rung’s mother was doing curses or protection rituals. The team changes their focus to finding the red phone since there are no clear answers and the shaman is dead.

Haetsal points out the window from the spirit world in one of the pictures, which means that one of the girls might have taken a picture there and accidentally turned it into a maehyung. Ha-joon suggests keeping track of metadata from Girigo’s videos, but only registered devices can do so.

Se-ah knows the server from Coach Song’s computer, which makes the group want to break into the school. Se-ah says she didn’t see the spirit’s face, but she thinks it is leading them to the truth.

Using the coach’s computer, Ha-joon and Se-ah break into the school and get to the Girigo server. They are shocked to see that a drunk Na-ri has uploaded a video in which she wishes death on two people, one of whom is Hyeong-wook. This is a disturbing question because Hyeong-wook is already dead and Na-ri is still alive. The episode ends with Na-ri and Geon-woo breaking into the school together.

Review of the Episode

Episode 4 takes the story deeper into the investigation while keeping the supernatural tension. The mix of digital clues and occult mysteries keeps the story interesting as the characters try to find out the truth about Gigiro and the scary things that happened at Seorin High.

The best part of the episode is when they explore Hye-rung’s house, which is full of creepy and disturbing images. The abandoned building, shamanic symbols, and signs of rituals all add to the feeling of fear, which supports the idea that this is a place where the spiritual and physical worlds meet.
