Episode Summary
What you end up with is high stakes action mixed with some iffy storytelling choices. In the process of trying to tie up multiple plotlines, a number of key decisions ended up hurting the narrative.
Tibor’s abrupt decision not to testify undercuts the momentum of earlier episodes, making a lot of the season feel a bit wasted. Amber’s journey also lacks much punch, as her role is less significant in the final outcome.
Alex is the most helpful character here, as he has obtained the evidence to expose Pegasus. But the delivery of this information feels rushed and undercooked, considering his interactions with Nancy up to this point.
The truck-switching sequence is tense, but it feels familiar and unorginal. And there are a few plot threads, including the pharmacy footage and Amber’s connection to Tibor, that are left unresolved or irrelevant by the end.
The finale wraps up loose ends with the deaths of major characters, but it feels like a cheap shot instead of a natural conclusion. Amber’s return home feels more like a reset than any kind of meaningful growth, leaving her arc pretty much unchanged.
Overall, Prisoner ends on a disjointed note. The finale fails to tie everything up in a satisfying and coherent way, which is a shame given a strong start earlier in the season.
