Absolute Value of Romance – K-drama Episode 6 Recap & Review

In episode 6, the story continues with Woo-su reading a chapter from Eui-ju’s web novel. First, she denies she wrote it but Woo-su sees through the lie. He can tell that the four protagonists are obviously based on the new teachers and that the dialogue is even a reflection of his own conversations with her.
A Tough Confrontation
Woo-su tells Eui-ju to remove the story, but she refuses, begging for the opportunity to continue writing. He lets her get used to the situation, then tells her to call her parents to the school and sends her home, saying they will talk again the next day. That night, Eui-ju shuts herself away, skipping dinner and fretting about the effects the situation may have on her ties with her family and friends.
Woo-su is overthinking the story
In the meantime, Woo-su gets addicted to the book. He begins to find romance in Gi-jeon’s ordinary interactions with Dong-ju. His discomfort escalates until he orders the two to stay away. Curious and unsettled, he looks up the BL genre and begins to analyze Eui-ju’s writing. He becomes angry when he finds out that his character is a negative second fiddle.
When Therapy Becomes Personal
The next day Woo-su calls Eui-ju into his office for counseling. She reveals her passion in writing and how did she become interested in BL web novels. Woo-su admits he is embarrassed about basing characters on real people, but says his main problem isn’t the idea, it’s the portrayal. He gives her an ultimatum: delete the story or rewrite it so that he is the main character. Reluctantly, she agrees to fix it.
The Documentary Conflict Elsewhere, the headmaster calls the four new teachers, asking them to be part of a documentary about the school. Da-ju, Dong-ju and Gi-jeon agree. Woo-su refuses. His resistance frustrates the principal, and Da-ju says he’ll talk him into it. Later the group talk about their fear of losing their jobs and try to get Woo-su to work with them, but it is to no avail.
Growing pressure on Eui-ju
Back at school, Woo-su becomes increasingly engrossed in the novel. He keeps asking Eui-ju about her progress and pressures her to release the next chapter soon. He is around her all day long, making her friends nervous and concerned. After class he criticizes her work, and demands she change it to look how he wants it.
The Silent Revolt
Finally, Eui-ju sends a revised draft for Woo-su to check. He gives her very detailed feedback and a strict deadline to make him the protagonist. Inside she fights the changes, she imagines her characters fighting the forced rewrite. That night, Woo-su reviews the revised version, but Eui-ju makes a daring decision and publishes the original draft against his instructions.

Review: Episode 6
This episode goes into weird and slightly uncomfortable territory. Woo-su, instead of going through the proper channels of school, gets personally involved in the story and tries to control the story. His insistence that he be written as the main character takes the conflict into odd territory.
In real life, a student would probably get into a lot of trouble over something like this. But in the context of a fictional narrative, the show leans into the absurdity and tension of the premise.
Eui-ju’s choice to release her original version suggests that there may be repercussions in the next few episodes. At the same time, the subplot about the school documentary and Woo-su’s refusal to take part is still not clear. It hints at possible unresolved issues from his past that might explain his behaviour, which the series will likely explore further.
