Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Episode 10 Season 2 kicks off with tensions high and Lee Shaw trying to contact Tim. Keiko is overcome with guilt when she finds the rift and verifies Billy’s research. She admits that she once believed Billy had abandoned Hiroshi, a mistake she still regrets.
Shaw’s theory that the rifts are interconnected – and his “anthill” idea – provides a real solution: send Titan X back to Axis Mundi. For the first time, the group has a target in mind.
Kong Joins the Battle
But then Kong comes along and things start to get cranked up. Apex makes things worse by transmitting a Titan X signal from a helicopter, leading Kong straight to the creature. A confrontation between two mighty Titans is unavoidable and the stakes are raised for everyone involved.
The Breakthrough in the Titan Language
Keiko makes a big discovery — Cate can actually hear and understand Titan X’s calls. This implies that the Titans have a structured form of communication, which could change the way humans view and communicate with them.
However, the situation explodes when Shaw reveals that he had time-traveled to meet a younger Keiko, but elected not to interfere. Keiko is furious and says that she should have been the one to decide to change her fate.
Kentaro’s Dangerous Obsession
Elsewhere Kentaro confides in Cate his desire to change the past. Still determined to see his mission through with Isabel, he even goes so far as to have Cate taken away so that he can continue undisturbed.
Kentaro is determined, but starts to doubt Isabel’s motives. Meanwhile, Shaw, Keiko, Tim and Corah re-unite and come up with a plan: to lure it back into Axis Mundi with Titan X’s “siren song” and away from Kong.
The Fight Against Titan X
Cate breaks her confinement and goes outside just in time to see Kong fighting Titan X. The team breaks into the facility and Isabel pushes the neural sensors of Titan X to its limits.
Corah finds that the only way to stop Titan X is to disconnect it completely. At the same time, Keiko and Cate help Titan X to get his egg back. When they are reunited, Titan X’s aggression disappears and it effectively rewrites its own behavior.
Kong sees the situation and retreats.
The Rift of Days Past
Cate tries to stop Kentaro from leaving with Isabel, but he won’t, convinced he can bring their father back from Axis Mundi. Kentaro had kept the truth from Cate to stop her from following and the revelation stuns Cate.
Shaw begins the final stage of the plan without Kentaro, using Cate’s recording to guide Titan X into the rift.
Within the rift Shaw encounters a younger version of himself. The two exchange a silent acknowledgement before the rift closes, a symbolic goodbye.
Six Weeks Later: The Birth of a King
The story skips six weeks ahead. Fallen Monarch members are being honored, and although Keiko is still alive her name remains on the memorial for the time being.
Kentaro and Isabel are still missing, so the team decides to rebuild as Monarch 2.0. This new focus is on scientific discovery, and understanding the Titans, not controlling them. Keiko and Cate take the lead roles, supported by Tim and Corah.
A New Danger
Shaw, in the final moments, discovers a man called A-wut, who tells him that Kentaro and Isabel were looking for something called a “key.” Shaw realizes the danger and decides to stop them.
Shaw discovers a new Titan deep in a dangerous forest, a giant firebird on a volcano, which suggests that there are even greater threats.
Episode critique
The second season finishes on a high, with a fast-paced, action-heavy climax that segues into future storylines. The Kong/Titan X fight is a great scene and the way they resolve it with the Titan’s egg gives it some real emotional weight.
Cate’s theory of Titan communication is a major turning point, and adds to the show’s transition from conflict to understanding.
But the emotional arc between Cate and Kentaro is left unresolved. Their fight goes on, with no resolution in sight, and their relationship remains in limbo.
The season did have some pacing issues at times and some subplots that felt unnecessary but the finale brings the story back into focus. There’s a clearer path forward, there’s the promise of new Titans, and the series leaves fans with a lot to look forward to in a potential third season.
