Marriagetoxin – Episode 9 Recap And Review 2026

In Marriagetoxin episode 9, Gero and the rest embark on what could be the most dangerous mission yet as they head to the secret island of the Beast Clan. Kinosaki takes the lead and heads for the clan’s territory, the group preparing themselves for what they know is likely to be an ambush.

As they near the island,
Arashiyama tries to break away from the group. She knows the situation as it is, a carefully constructed trap, and she hopes to keep Gero out of danger. But Gero will not release her. But he’s determined to stand by her side, telling her if she runs now she’ll only regret it.

Their conversation is broken by a sudden attack on the boat by a giant squid. As the chaos ensues, the group is forced into action when a gigantic eagle swoops down and snatches Arashiyama.## Gero vs. The Birdmaster

Gero hesitates not.
He stabs himself with one of his toxins. And runs over the water after the eagle. Back on the boat, Piichi remains with Kinosaki to deal with the giant squid threatening their lives.

One of the episode’s best laughs comes from Piichi racing through a cooking tutorial to learn how to prepare a squid. For some reason the ridiculous plan works, and he manages to cut through the creature with no effort at all in a flurry of attacks, ending the fight almost immediately.

Meanwhile, Gero meets the Bird Master
, Hanezawa. Hanezawa has been hired by the main family to work, to kill Gero and prevent him from learning about the mysterious collars both men wear.

Hanezawa keeps his distance and launches constant aerial strikes, using his command of the birds. His birds are attacking Gero from all directions, leaving the Poison Master at a disadvantage in counter attack.## Dogo’s True Objective

Watching the fight from a distance is Toshiro Dogo, the man behind the trap. Hanezawa thinks he has the upper hand, but Dogo is much more interested in watching Gero than in the success of his ally.

Eventually Gero opens it up with a gas bomb. Hanezawa is uncertain, wondering if the gas is poisonous, but Gero approaches and knocks him out with one punch.

Hanezawa defeats him and agrees to tell him what he knows about the collars and the rumors of their destruction. But before he can finish, Dogo cuts him off. He activates the collar remotely and silences Hanezawa, then begins to talk directly with Gero.

Meanwhile, explosions near Kinosaki and Piichi indicate that Dogo’s operation is expanding beyond a simple ambush.## Cross-Contamination: The Mystery

The fight starts again and Hanezawa is growing up
, enhanced by Dogo’s experiments. Dogo has turned him into something much more dangerous, by combining bloodlines and abilities through a process called cross-sanguination.

Hanezawa is able to utilize the techniques of the spear master, turning his birds into a deadly spear-like weapon. At first the boosted attacks are too much for Gero to handle and it looks like the fight is not going his way.

But Gero has foreseen this situation. In the fight the birds repeatedly come in contact with his blood. Hanezawa didn’t realize that Gero’s blood contained a muscle relaxant to which he was immune, but the birds were.

Birds are falling from the sky, one by one. Gero wins again. His opponent is weaker. Sadly, the future of Hanezawa has already been decided. Inside him, the incompatible bloodlines eventually reject each other, causing his death.## Dogo Gets His Way

Elsewhere, Dogo’s servant Byakko launches a surprise attack disguised as a white bear. She takes advantage of Piichi’s weakened state after the explosion, and gets a blood sample from him.

The stealing ends the collection of Dogo
. He now has Gero’s blood, which seems to resist all poisons, and Piichi’s blood, which gives him incredible strength and speed.

This episode hints at the terrifying reason for Dogo’s research. He looks at the blood samples and the viewers can see a huge creature lurking beneath him. This suggests that an even bigger threat is waiting to come out.## A Time of Quiet Before the Final Battle

As darkness falls, the episode slows to focus on the relationship between Gero and Arashiyama. Arashiyama feels powerless and breaks down in tears after all that has happened.

“We’re in this together,”
Gero says to her. His determination to fight Dogo and protect those around him is an emotional end to the episode and sets up the conflict to come.## Marriagetoxin Episode 9 Recap

Marriagetoxin is still one of the most fun anime of the season, and Episode 9 demonstrates many of the reasons why the series has been so enjoyable to watch so far. The humor is always present, seamlessly integrated into the story, never undermining the tension.

Piichi learning how to beat a giant squid by watching a cooking video, and Hanezawa’s strange bird-based combat techniques are just two examples of the series continuing to embrace its absurdity in a way that feels uniquely charming.

The addition of Dogo’s experiments in the introduction also adds another interesting layer to the story. The ability to mix bloodlines and abilities opens up the world-building and gives new opportunities for future battles. Dogo himself is a memorable villain, with a quirky personality that perfectly matches the tone of the series.

That said, the episode also exposes some recurring flaws
. The battle formula is getting a bit stale. Again, Gero spends most of the fight looking beaten before revealing that he’d secretly had a countermeasure prepared all along. This method worked early in the season, but time and again has made the results more and more predictable.

Another problem is that the villains often have more visually interesting powers than the hero. Hanezawa’s transformation into a bird spear is inventive, absurd, and impossible to miss. For instance, Gero’s toxin injections are a key part of his character, but they just don’t feel as fresh or exciting.

Still, Episode 9 is a fun episode with humor, action and interesting developments. However, as the season draws to a close, the show may have to come up with new ideas and change its battle format if it is to give fans a truly memorable finale.## Decision

Marriagetoxin Episode 9 strikes the right balance between comedy, action, and story progression in the development of Dogo as an interesting villain. The series’ charm and creativity still make it a fun watch heading into its final stretch, though the predictable fight structure is starting to become hard to ignore.
