Love Upon a Time – Season 1 Episode 2 Recap & Review

Phop jumps into the water to save Nakhun at the start of Episode 2 of Love Upon a Time. Nakhun loses consciousness after a tense fight, and Phop is able to pull him to safety and carry him back to his room.

Nakhun wakes up along the way, but he acts like he’s still asleep. Nakhun is confused by the attention as Phop carefully takes care of him, drying him off and checking on him. He tries to stay calm, but Phop’s touch makes him feel uneasy. Nakhun gets scared when Phop asks for new clothes because he doesn’t want to change.

He quickly falls asleep and starts to dream about pieces of Klao’s memories. When he wakes up, he starts to think of ways to get back to the present. He knows that almost drowning didn’t send him back; he’s still stuck in the past.

Phop yells at the servants outside the room for being careless and says they are responsible for Klao’s disappearance and near-drowning. He tells Chuay to keep a close eye on him and calls for a doctor right away.

Nakhun tells Phop that he changed his clothes without asking, which makes Phop confused. He has always taken care of Klao since they were kids, so Nakhun’s reaction seems strange to him. Phop scolds him and tells him to speak up about his worries, even though he seems to have forgotten them or is still angry about them.

The doctor shows up and looks a lot like Nakhun’s friend Thee. But he says his name is Jom and doesn’t know why Nakhun calls him something else. Nakhun gets angry because he thinks this is some kind of elaborate joke.

Jom says that he is not sick but rather high on opioids. He gives him a bitter mixture that is supposed to get rid of the substance from his body. Phop is still suspicious, though, because Nakhun keeps saying he is not Klao and reacts to Jom in a way that is both familiar and confusing.

Nakhun tries to get Chuay to take him back to the woods where he first arrived after Phop leaves. He hopes to find a way home. Chuay says no because he has been told not to let him out. Nakhun’s first attempts to escape fail because the doors are locked from the outside.

He is determined and comes up with a plan to use bed sheets to climb out the window. He pretends to be sick, sends Chuay away, and then takes the chance to run away. He runs into Pun on his way to the woods. He is happy to see a familiar face, but his hope quickly fades when Pun doesn’t recognize him, which proves that this is not a joke.

Phop, Jom, and Chuay catch up to him before he can think about the situation any more. Nakhun, who is feeling overwhelmed, lashes out and says again that he is not Klao and wants them to stop calling him that. Phop stops the others from following so that Nakhun can get his thoughts together.

Nakhun thinks about how he got to the past when he’s alone. He wonders if another falling star might be the only way back, but that seems unlikely. He worries about his mother, Pun, and Thee because he thinks he might be stuck there forever.

Phop stays with him quietly until he finally takes him home. Nakhun learns that he has gone back in time 400 years to the Ayutthaya period, when King Songtham was in charge, while they are walking. He doesn’t know much about history or Klao’s memories, so he feels totally unprepared to live in this world.

That night, he thinks about why he traveled through time. He can’t stop thinking about what the fortune teller said about an unfulfilled promise. He starts to think that he might be living out a past version of himself after remembering something his professor taught him: that time can work like a loop.

Everyday problems make it hard for him to adjust because they show how different things are now than they were before. For example, there is no modern hygiene, no familiar utensils, and none of the comforts he used to take for granted. He meets Sai, Chuay’s wife, who tells him more about Klao and Phop. Nakhun is happy to hear that Klao doesn’t have any immediate family responsibilities and that Phop, a well-respected general, is single.

In the meantime, Phop talks to Jom about how Klao is doing. Jom says that recovery will take time, but he hints at something deeper, especially since he is getting ready to go to the capital to get medicine from foreign traders. When he is interrupted, his behavior becomes suspicious, which makes it seem like he is hiding something.

Later, Nakhun is called to dinner with his family. He doesn’t know how to wear traditional clothes, so he asks Chuay for help. He meets Phop’s family at dinner, which includes High Lord Pichayabhakdi, Prayong, and the other wives of the house.

There are plans for a visit to the temple the next day to get rid of any bad luck, and Nakhun is told to move back into the main house. He also finds out that Klao’s father died and left him in the care of the High Lord, which raises more questions about Klao’s past.

Nakhun has a hard time pretending to be someone he doesn’t know when everyone is watching him closely. At the same time, he starts to wonder what kind of relationship Klao and Phop had. Were they just childhood friends, or was there something more going on?

Look over

Episode 2 deepens the central mystery while expanding the emotional stakes. Nakhun’s growing sense that he may be stuck in the past for good makes his situation more serious, and the addition of new characters and relationships makes the story more interesting.

The episode has a good mix of tension and intrigue, with humor coming mostly from Nakhun’s modern discomfort. Phop’s behavior, which is both protective and conflicted, stands out and suggests a deeper connection that hasn’t been fully revealed yet.

The show keeps getting better and better with its mix of time-travel mystery, character drama, and subtle romance. It raises interesting questions that will be answered in future episodes.
