Lukkhe – Season 1 Episode 4 “An Eye for An Eye” Recap & Review

Lukkhe, Episode 4 begins with a heart-wrenching flashback at the house of Gurbani. Her sister, Ashnoor, is high on drugs and emotionally shattered. In a harrowing scene, Ashnoor blames her family for not protecting her and says that she was assaulted because of them. Things quickly go awry when she shoots her father in a scuffle and then commits suicide, leaving Gurbani’s family permanently scarred.

In present, Gurbani tells Lucky about Ashnoor’s tragic death and permanent damage it caused. She speaks of how addiction ruined her family, and tells Lucky to get Sanober to file an assault case against OG.

Meanwhile, Badnaam gets Jazz to fix their battered car before Paddy learns about the recent attack. Later Badnaam goes to the studio with Paddy and records a new rap track, still under the effects of the drugs he took the previous night.

Meanwhile, Inspector Hardik is investigating the shooting at the parking lot. Gurbani tells him that Badnaam and OG were a part of the violence but Hardik doesn’t believe her without concrete proof. Instead he asks her to have her informant testify publicly.

Gurbani meets Lucky and asks him to collect evidence against Badnaam, which Hardik secretly follows. Meanwhile, Sutti arrives at the Walia house with his brother’s body and blames OG for the tragedy. He reveals that OG has overestimated Badnaam’s negative influence and exposes Badnaam’s involvement in drug business.

Mr. Walia convinces Sutti to take revenge by killing Badnaam. He tells OG to lay low too, until the job is finished. And the rising influence of Badnaam all over Punjab is a rising concern for OG.

Later Lucky asks Sanober to file a FIR against OG. But Sanober tells why she has no faith in the police or the justice system. She remembers when they were kids and their mother died, and the authorities took her away from Badnaam. She says Badnaam fought to save her and that’s why she won’t betray him now.

Lucky attempts to persuade her that the law can still deliver justice but Sanober believes that OG’s money and influence makes him untouchable. Later, Lucky takes Sanober to his house and introduces her to his mother as his girlfriend. Lucky’s mother greets her warmly, and Sanober feels a rare sense of belonging.

Elsewhere, Gurbani tracks down one of her father’s old informants, Altaf, and asks him to identify the people involved in the shooting in the parking lot. That night Gurbani arrives home and tends to her bedridden father. He tells her to stop feeling guilty for Ashnoor’s death and get over it.

Meanwhile, Badnaam, Paddy and Jazz use a gaming parlour to shoot a music video. Meanwhile, Lucky is haunted by guilt over his secret assistance to Gurbani, and is becoming closer to both Sanober and Badnaam.

Sanober takes shower and Lucky takes the opportunity to Search the house for any evidence against Badnaam quietly. He almost finds the hidden Mitta vials in the backyard but is interrupted by the surprise return of Badnaam, Jazz and Paddy. Lucky quickly fixes his tracks by pretending he was looking for flowers but Badnaam is suspicious.

That night Altaf sets up a meeting between Gurbani and Sutti at a butcher shop. The encounter turns violent quickly and another shootout breaks out. Altaf is killed and Sutti escapes after attacking Gurbani.

The following day, Lucky tells Gurbani about Badnaam’s music video shoot at the gaming parlour. Sanober begins to worry as the tension between Lucky and Badnaam starts to build. Suddenly Sutti comes with a bunch of men armed to the teeth and viciously attacks.

Sutti fires at Sanober but Badnaam sacrifices herself to save Sanober and takes the bullet during the shootout. Just as Sutti is about to finish the job Gurbani arrives and shoots him dead, ending the episode on a dramatic note.

Episode Review

This episode has some of the best emotional storytelling of the season so far. Ashnoor’s tragic backstory gives Gurbani’s motivations a crucial depth, and shows how trauma has affected her family in deep ways.

Lucky remains one of the most conflicted characters in the series. His increasing closeness to Sanober and Badnaam makes his clandestine partnership with Gurbani all the more dangerous, and it looks as if his double life may soon come back to haunt him.

OG clearly is getting nervous with Badnaam’s power and sets up a bigger conflict moving ahead. But even with several gunshot wounds, it’s unlikely Badnaam’s story ends here. If anything, this attack might only make him more dangerous in the episodes to come.
