Marriagetoxin – Episode 1 Recap & Review

In the first episode of Marriagetoxin, a mafia boss throws a party to celebrate his latest success with his crew. As part of the fun, they humiliate their victims. The group starts drinking after a wine taster gives the go-ahead, but the boss suddenly chokes and dies a few moments later. A waiter quietly leaves the scene without anyone noticing.

Hikaru Gero is a skilled assassin from the Poison Clan who works as a waiter. He is an expert at using deadly poisons. His plan is very precise and well thought out. He had trained the wine taster over the course of months to be able to handle a certain poison, making sure that the boss would drink it without knowing it.

Later, when he talks to his sister Akari about the job, they start talking about a sensitive subject: marriage. The clan needs an heir, but Akari is dating a woman, and Gero has trouble believing that anyone would want to be with him.

Things change again when Gero meets up with his friend Bug Master, who tells him that he might be getting married soon. Gero is upset by the news. Not long after that, he gets a new job: to torture and kill a marriage swindler named Mei Kinosaki while the client watches.

Mei tries to play with Gero’s feelings during the interrogation by saying she looks like his first love. Gero seems fine on the outside, but the thought that someone might actually be interested in him shakes him up on the inside.

In the middle of this, Akari calls to say that her grandmother has told her to break up with her girlfriend and marry into another family of assassins. Gero says no to the idea, saying she shouldn’t leave someone she loves, and promises to make things right.

Gero suddenly decides to propose to Mei and offers to help pay for her brother’s medical bills, which is why she tricks men into giving her money. Mei laughs off the proposal and says no right away, but then she gives him some blunt advice about relationships that he didn’t expect.

Before things can move forward, Gero’s client shows up, angry about the delay and threatening both of them. Gero changes his mind and doesn’t want to get married anymore; he just wants help finding a girlfriend. The client is furious and tries to kill them right away.

Gero responds by giving himself a special poison that makes him faster. He easily avoids bullets and stops the attackers with his toxins. Mei is impressed and agrees to help him, but she tells him something shocking: “Mei Kinosaki” is actually a man who has been pretending to be a woman to get more money from clients.

Even though things don’t go as planned, Mei takes Gero to a matchmaking event and then uses a dating app to help him meet women. Gero keeps getting turned down because of his awkward behavior and scary looks.

Later, Gero relaxes by cleaning a bathroom, which shows off his ability to make strong cleaning products, even ones that can melt iron. Mei notices this new skill.

The two go their separate ways at the end of the day, but Mei is suddenly kidnapped a few minutes later. The brother of Gero’s former client is the one who did it. He wants revenge because his brother left the business after their last meeting.

The kidnappers are suddenly stopped when a figure appears in the road ahead of Mei. It’s Gero. With his chemicals in hand, he jumps onto the moving car and cuts it in half with his chemicals, sending it crashing into the water.

Gero saves Mei and thanks him for all the help he gave him that day. In return, Mei adds Gero to his contacts, signaling the start of an unusual partnership.

The Review of the Episode

The first episode of Marriagetoxin has a great mix of action, humor, and character growth. The episode covers a lot of ground, but it keeps a steady pace without feeling rushed.

One of the best parts is when it turns out that Mei is a man. The story starts out like a typical enemies-to-lovers story, but then takes a funny and unexpected turn. This choice not only adds humor but also changes the story’s direction.

The relationship between Gero and Mei is especially interesting. It’s interesting to see Mei try to set people up while also working toward his own goals. The series could make this relationship even more interesting by adding both funny and serious tension.

At this point, it’s not clear if the show will be made up of episodes or if it will have a bigger story arc. No matter what, Marriagetoxin is already a fun show that fans of strange humor, strange characters, and stylish action will love.
