Meanwhile Signe says she needs some space because she is depressed and Thor starts to look for Marie. However, Thor soon finds something wrong when he finds what appears to be a suicide note. The phrasing seems all wrong, especially when Marie calls the kids “kiddos”, which Thor knows she wouldn’t do. Family is alarmed and panics. Michael calls police right away.
Why Signe is hunting the Holsts
Marie is in a remote cottage imprisoned, and at last Signe explains her reasons. She saw the Holsts as the family she’d always wanted and Marie, in her mind, was threatening to ruin that.
Signe reveals her traumatic past. Roy and their children eventually built what she thought was a happy life for Staal after she was moved between foster homes after her mother abandoned her and Staal committed suicide. Roy got involved with Emma and Signe went down a dark path and the happiness came crashing down.
Signe shot Emma out of revenge, because she thought Emma tore her family apart.
Determined to keep her secret, Signe now plans to kill Marie and stage it as a suicide. Marie does attempt to bond with her over their common grief, but Signe admits it was her who baited Marie with the support group flyer. Signe took comfort in watching Marie emotionally struggle, but now feels she doesn’t need her anymore and plans to take Thor and Molly for herself.
Why Did Signe Murder Her Other Victims?
Back at the station, Esra reopens the investigation, but removes Mark from the case. Sandra keeps digging, following Thea’s trail and finds out that she is Signe Bohm-Moller, Roy’s wife, now working as a therapist in the agency.
Police records show Roy and the children died in a car crash. Later investigators learn the crash happened with Roy distracted arguing with Signe over divorce.
CCTV footage from the agency gives a better view. Signe seems to be especially touched by children whose families are divided by cheating, separation and divorce. Sandra has learned that Signe was obsessed with “protecting” children by punishing the adults she thought wrecked their homes.
Her house, still stuffed with toys, schedules and memories of her children, shows she never got over her loss.
What goes on between Mark and Lee?
Mark goes to a youth facility tied to Thea’s history. The facility manager, Agnete, tells him that Thea often escaped to her father’s cottage whenever she needed to clear her mind.
Sandra refuses to provide the location, reminding Mark that he remains in mourning and is emotionally compromised.
Her words sliced. Mark starts to think about how much he has missed Le. So when Le tries to reach out, tired of his hot-and-cold attitude, Le finally pushes back.
Le lashes out at Aksel after being busted driving underage confessing that Mark is the father figure she really wants She also expresses how much she misses Naia.
Aksel comforts her and they talk about their future. Le begins to feel guilty about how it ended with Mark.
How is Signe Stopped at Last?
The police know Signe has kidnapped Marie as soon as they get Michael’s report.
Sandra tries to warn Mark, but he is beyond her reach. Later, she sees his car parked near where Signe answered Thor’s phone.
It turns out Agnete secretly gave Mark the address of the cottage.
Mark is coming up to the property and Signe panics and throws Marie into an empty swimming pool. Marie manages to free herself alone.
Signe starts out as an innocent local resident but it isn’t long before Mark sees through the facade. Suddenly she lunges at him, stabbing him in the leg and a brutal cat-and-mouse chase begins.
Mark is under the water, nearly frozen to death. When he finally comes out, Signe beats him and begins to drown him.
Mark starts to lose consciousness and sees visions of Naia.
In the last possible moment, Marie shows up and stabs Signe to death multiple times, saving Mark’s life.

Episode Review
The season two finale is a thrilling and satisfying conclusion, mixing emotional character beats with a tense final showdown.
With her tragic backstory adding psychological depth to her actions, Signe emerges as one of the series’ most unsettling villains. Her warped need to protect children makes her motives disturbing but understandable.
The final game of hide and seek between Mark and Signe is masterfully executed, and you are kept on the edge of your seat to the very last moment.
That said, some of the character arcs feel rushed. Naia’s memory still feels more like a plot device than a well-honored storyline, and Le’s emotional struggles could have been explored more.
But even so the mystery is engrossing to the end and the end of the season manages to give both suspense and emotional resolution, which is a good ending for Season 2.
