Max and Pippa Face Off in Court

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder Season 2 Episode 3 Pippa Prepares for Important Court Hearing She is nervous but Ravi turns up to support her after skipping work. His presence is calming and Pippa finally admits she feels the same way about him.

Pippa gives evidence against Max in court. She told the court she thinks Max is guilty because he confessed to her on the phone. She also discusses Becca’s claim that she was drugged and raped. The defense, however, attempts to undermine Pippa’s credibility by suggesting she might be confused, or maybe too obsessed with Max.

Pippa says she has a recording of the call but the judge tells the jury to disregard that comment. Max jokes about Pippa and pretends to be confident out of court. She threatens to send the recording to his mother and this finally makes him shut up.

Jamie’s Disappearance Gets a Darker Twist

After the hearing, Pippa and Ravi meet up with Connor to further their investigation into Jamie’s disappearance. They’re still trying to figure out why Jamie broke into the Greens’ house, and stole Flora’s cheap bracelet.

Things get serious when Connor’s mom Joanna finds a blood stained sweatshirt that Jamie left in his room. She says Jamie wore it three days prior to his disappearance. Pippa then spots something disturbing in a family photo from that night: one knife is missing from the kitchen knife block.

Joanna fears the worst but Ravi tries to keep everyone calm.

Howie Bowers Gives Pippa Another Clue

Later, Pippa, Ravi and Connor come across Howie Bowers, the local drug dealer recently released from jail. Connor pretended to be a buyer and asked Howie about Jamie, but Howie told him he hadn’t seen him in a long time.

Before he leaves, Howie tells Pippa to remind Cara to pay him for the MDMA she bought. This makes Pippa confront Cara about her drug use.

Pippa rummages through her things and finds drugs and Jamie’s portable charger. Cara finally admits she found the charger at the Calamity party but didn’t tell Pippa. Their argument gets emotional, with Cara accusing Pippa of caring more about the case than her friends. Pippa reminds her that Jamie has been missing for 72 hours and every hour counts.

Max Finds Shelter

Meanwhile Max is getting more and more desperate. He encounters Robin and coerces him into stealing Pippa’s phone to get the voice recording. Max’s mother overhears part of the conversation, and for the first time she begins to doubt her son.

Later, Max cleans up his room, to hide the drugs he has stashed there. But soon he finds the drugs are gone and his mother is missing too.

Calamity Party Footage Shows Mystery Woman

Pippa released another podcast episode with updates on the bracelet, the bloodstained sweatshirt, the missing knife, and Jamie’s appearance at the Calamity party. She’s asking anyone with videos or photos from that night to send them in.

Soon Pippa gets some footage from the party. She watches the clips with Connor, Lauren and Robin, and sees Jamie looking for someone. We see him talking to a woman, Ruby.

Later on Pippa finds Ruby and asks her, and Ruby tells her that Jamie confused her for a girl called Layla. This leads Pippa to a big discovery, Jamie was probably being catfished by someone with Ruby’s photos.

Layla Sends An Unsettling Message

Pippa, Connor and Ravi look at Layla’s online profile. They discover Jamie’s dating profile and find out that he lied about his age and job. Pippa sets up a fake dating profile and matches with Layla.

She looks at Layla’s social media and sees that Mr Clark has commented on the account’s photos. The profile was created seven weeks ago and that made the mystery even more fishy.

Then, when everyone is waiting for Layla to respond, Robin shows up with Lauren. Pippa accuses Robin of trying to steal her phone and Lauren defends him.

Then Layla actually responds. The message is scary because Layla is talking directly to Pippa, warning her that she is getting closer to the truth.

Episode Summary

Episode 3 does a good job raising the tension around Jamie’s disappearance. The bloodstained sweatshirt and the missing knife make this feel much more dangerous. The fact that there still is no body should feel hopeful.

This episode also takes a painful blow to the friendship of Pippa and Cara. Both characters have good reasons for their emotions, which makes the conflict harder to watch. Cara is obviously finding things hard, Pippa is determined to find Jamie before it’s too late.

Robin’s storyline is also interesting, though it’s clear he’s not built for Max’s schemes. Trusting Max to steal Pippa’s phone is reckless, especially since Pippa would probably have backups of the recording.

The big question now is who is Layla? Could the catfish be someone near to Jamie? Or someone already connected with Pippa’s group? Naomi’s not being part of this season also feels a little off, and the Greens still don’t seem entirely innocent.

Overall, Episode 3 continues to solve the mystery but also adds more emotional pressure. The investigation is becoming more dangerous than ever, with Pippa now being directly threatened by Layla.
