Your Friends & Neighbors – Season 2 Episode 4 Recap & Review

Episode 4 of Your Friends & Neighbors Season 2 opens with Mel discovering tree cutters outside her home. After she previously left a bag of dog waste on her neighbor’s doorstep, the situation has escalated, and the neighbors have now decided to build a wall between the properties.

Meanwhile, Hunter is picked up by Tori during the chaos, while Coop visits Lu, who is increasingly worried about his current business dealings. Lu understands Coop is not careless, but when he reveals he is being blackmailed, she advises him to identify the “expiration point” of the threat before it gets worse.

Elena remains unaware of the blackmail situation. She is frustrated that Coop keeps avoiding her, though he tries to reassure her. At the same time, he also speaks to Tori and encourages her to talk to Mel in an attempt to ease tensions.

Mel, however, is growing impatient with how slowly things are progressing with her daughter. Gossip spreads among the women about Tori leaving Princeton, but the mood shifts when Ashe arrives at the local Passover gathering with Sam.

The dinner becomes uncomfortable when Coop ends up seated near Ashe and Sam. While the atmosphere is tense at first, Sam manages to connect with some of the guests and gradually earns their acceptance. Mel, however, remains cold and unimpressed.

Later, Sam ends up sleeping with Ashe, further complicating the situation. When Mel becomes heavily intoxicated, Tori orders her an Uber and leaves, calling her mother pathetic.

At school, Ali struggles to maintain control in class when a disruptive student, Finn, refuses to stop talking. Frustrated, Ali lashes out, shocking the rest of the students with her reaction.

That night, Coop continues to wrestle with how to manage the growing conflict between Tori and Mel. He returns to breaking into houses, this time with Elena guiding him as he gathers new equipment. However, the situation quickly becomes unstable.

Ashe calls Coop while high on cocaine and behaves erratically, demanding faster results on the money or threatening to leak the video to the police. The pressure forces Coop to abandon his plan, leaving Elena dissatisfied.

When Coop later meets Ashe in person, he explains that the process will take time. He has not yet approached Jack due to the volatility of the situation. Ashe continues to pressure him, and Coop reluctantly complies to keep him calm, highlighting the instability of their dynamic.

Elsewhere, Ashe attempts to bond with Sam’s child by gifting a drone, an act that feels premature and inappropriate, though he dismisses any concerns.
