A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder Season 2 Episode 2 Recap and Review: Pippa Investigates Jamie’s Vanishing

Pippa Comes Across Another Case

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder season 2 episode 2 recap “Jamie’s been gone for 24 hours. I need your help,” Connor says to Pippa. Pippa’s reluctant, at first, still reeling from the damage her last investigation caused. But when Connor says Jamie was last seen at the memorial, Pippa remembers seeing him that night.

She takes the information to D.I. Hawkins and asks him to investigate, suspecting Max is trying to interfere with the trial. Hawkins doesn’t want to take the case seriously. On her way out, Pippa bumps into Detective Daniel Da Silva, who admits she may have a point with the Max situation before being called away.

Ravi Urges Pippa to Assist Connor

That night Pippa tells Ravi she’s afraid to get involved again. She’s afraid she’ll hurt Connor, like she thinks she hurt Cara. Ravi calms her down, telling her that Connor needs help. Finally, Pippa decides she can’t ignore Jamie’s disappearance.

The next morning, she goes to Cara and wants to talk about what she said while drunk the night before. Cara claims she can’t remember anything and Pippa lets it go. When Jamie’s case comes up, Cara warns that Pippa might find something disturbing.

Max is Pippa’s first leading man.

Pippa meets Ravi for coffee and tells him Max is her first suspect. She mentions Max’s family dinner on the night of the memorial but when Ravi asks how she knew about it, Pippa lies.

Later Pippa and Ravi join Connor, Cara, Lauren and Robin to put up missing posters. Pippa asks Robin where Max is, prompting Robin to call him. Max says he was at a golf club that night. But hearing Pippa’s name, Max leaves the house and makes a suspicious phone call saying there’s a problem.

Then Pippa and Ravi go to the golf club with Victor. Pippa tricks an employee and sneaks into the security office to check the CCTV footage. She sees Max at the bar, though she can’t quite recall when he left. When a colleague from Ravi’s law firm arrives, he is sent away, but Pippa manages to get away before she is discovered.

Jamie’s Room Creates More Questions

Pippa told them at Connor’s house that Jamie was a material witness for Max’s trial. She also confirms that Max’s alibi checks out. Connor asks Pippa to use her podcast to raise awareness about Jamie’s disappearance. He also confesses to once catching Jamie stealing money from their mom, making him fear Jamie could be in some serious trouble.

Pippa and Connor search through Jamie’s room and try to get into his laptop. They find a picture of Jamie with Nat, and Connor reveals that Jamie was once in love with her. He also says that Nat is seeing some rich guy now. They continue their search and find more disturbing items that make Jamie’s situation even more mysterious.

That night, Pippa begins the second season of her podcast, and vows to find out what happened to Jamie. Shortly after someone sets off her car alarm and leaves a threatening note on the windshield. Pippa asks Charlie to check his security footage but the cameras reveal nothing useful.

A New Witness Leads Pippa to Nat

Before her witness hearing, Pippa talks to Victor about Jamie’s case. Then she gets a voicemail from a listener of the podcast who says she saw Jamie fighting with a blonde woman. Pippa immediately suspects Nat …

Pippa tells Ravi about the lead and heads to confront Nat at Luke’s house. When she asks Nat and Luke, Luke is quick to jump in and pressure Nat to back up his alibi. He then asks Pippa to leave.

Nat follows Pippa outside and tells her that Jamie’s back on drugs. She says the argument at the memorial was over his behavior and nothing to do with Max. Pippa then goes home to prepare herself for court.

Becca Confronts Max’s Lawyer in Court

Meanwhile Becca appears in court and describes the events of the Calamity party, where Max raped her. Max’s lawyer goes after her credibility, dredging up her involvement in Andie’s murder and challenging her memory of the assault.

Becca denies the accusations, but the lawyer continues to pick apart her testimony. The scene really highlights how difficult the trial is getting, especially for people who are trying to come forward against Max.

Jamie’s Secret Theft Revealed

Elsewhere, Charlie asks Pippa to look over the security footage from Connor’s birthday party. In the clip, Jamie is seen creeping into one of the rooms. Flora then says that one of her bracelets is missing.

Pippa sees that the bracelet she discovered in Jamie’s room belongs to Flora and gives it back to her. The episode ends with Pippa wondering what on earth Jamie was up to, and why he may have stolen the bracelet.

Comment on Episode

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder Season 2 Episode 2 does well to drag Pippa back into detective mode and how much the events of the first season still haunt her. She wants to help Connor, but is clearly scared of hurting the people around her more.

The episode also continues to tease the tension around Max. His alibi with the golf club seems solid, but his response to Pippa’s part in it makes him seem guilty. And having Jamie as a key witness in Max’s trial just ups the ante on the danger of his disappearance.

Pippa’s life outside of work is also getting more complicated. Ravi clearly has feelings for her, but Pippa is too busy with the investigation to notice. Her choice to ask Connor about Ravi’s speech illustrates just how emotionally distracted she really is.

Cara is another mystery. It’s unclear if she genuinely forgot what she said drunk, or if she’s just pretending to protect her friendship with Pippa. Either way, there’s clearly more going on between these two than Pippa wants to admit.

Episode 2 ratchets up the stakes by linking Jamie’s disappearance to Max’s trial, Nat’s history with Jamie, and Flora’s weird room theft. The mystery is getting darker, and Pippa might once again be walking into a case that is far more dangerous than it first ap
