Perfect Crown – K-Drama Episode 7 Recap & Review

Perfect Crown Episode 7 begins with a passionate kiss between Prince Yi-an and Hui-ju on the yacht, a moment that will be unforgettable for both. They come home and the staff members are curious and ask why they didn’t bring back the royal guards. Both are surprised and clumsily deny going anywhere special.
That kiss stayed in my mind that night. Prince Yi-an enjoys the replay of the moment in his head while Hui-ju struggles with the embarrassment, wondering if she has crossed some unseen boundary. Later that night he comes to her room. Hui-ju pretends to not hear him, she can’t face him.
The next day the tension between them is still there. Hui-ju tries to avoid him on her way to work, but fate has other ideas. She trips and Prince Yi-an happens to be there to catch her, making the situation all the more awkward.
She can’t get the kiss out of her head and so she goes to see a priest at a church and asks for an exorcism, certain that there must be something wrong with her. She soon runs into Jeong-woo who offers her a ride to work. Meanwhile, Prince Yi-an calls Hui-ju about the wedding preparations and hears Jeong-woo’s voice in the background. Yi-an’s jealousy is piqued immediately.
As they drive, Jeong-woo sees Hui-ju drawing nearer to Prince Yi-an. He warns her against getting emotionally involved, fearing that the inevitable divorce will be even more painful.
Back at work, Hui-ju begins to shuffle responsibilities and meet with key affiliates. Hui-ju tells Tae-joo that she is giving away his shares. He is shocked. Hui-ju is unsure, but hopes that this decision will show, over time, that she is the most capable person to be in charge.
Back at the palace, Prince Yi-an helps King Yi-yoon select a good wedding date. He picks a date in July, on purpose, saying that he and Hui-ju need more time.
Later, the couple attend their wedding fitting, where Hui-ju finds out that Prince Yi-an will be dining with her family as part of royal tradition. She’s already flustered, but flustered more when Prince Yi-an gently tucks a strand of hair behind her ear.
Things get even more awkward during their medical examination, when Court Lady Jin-sook mentions the consummation of their marriage. The doctor can see that Hui-ju’s heart is racing, and Prince Yi-an asks for privacy.
The only one who mentions their kiss is him, but Hui-ju hurts him when she says it was just a moment that could have happened with anyone. Prince Yi-an softly confesses, for him, it was only because it was her.
Meanwhile the deeper palace secrets are starting to come out. Prince Yi-an finds a half-burned royal decree left by the late king, revealing his wish to renounce the throne in Yi-an’s favor. Flashbacks suggest Yi-rang may have destroyed the original document, casting serious doubt on her involvement in the late king’s death.
The family dinner is just as dramatic. Suddenly Hui-ju’s father acts protective and asks Prince Yi-an to love his daughter. Hui-ju can’t stomach the hypocrisy and storms out. Prince Yi-an follows her, soothing her and confessing his love.
One of the most emotional moments of the episode happens when Prince Yi-an confesses openly that he likes Hui-ju. As much as she is surprised, Hui-ju cannot deny her own feelings any longer. However, Yi-an still promises to honor their divorce agreement when the time comes.
Excitement fills the palace as the wedding day finally arrives. Prince Yi-an is the happiest of all to officially marry Hui-ju. The ceremony is a great success and the new couple is greeted with warm wishes from the public and the palace staff.
But just when everything seems to be perfect tragedy strikes. And then Hui-ju suddenly collapses in front of the king, the cabinet and the media, ending on a shocking note.
Episode Review
Episode 7 takes its sweet time before delivering a solid cliffhanger. The romance between Prince Yi-an and Hui-ju continues to develop naturally, and their chemistry is one of the great assets of the drama.
At the same time, the series starts to explore palace politics more deeply. But the revelation about the burned royal edict adds a major layer of mystery, especially about Yi-rang’s true role in king’s death and Hui-ju’s recent danger.
Also in this episode, Prince Yi-an makes an important step forward. He doesn’t hide behind the marriage contract, he confesses his feelings out loud and even confronts Jeong-woo about Hui-ju. Obviously he doesn’t intend to give her up.
Now the million dollar question is how Jeong-woo will respond when Hui-ju and Yi-an become closer. Will he accept this relationship, or will envy drive him to darker deeds?
Political conspiracies, budding romance and Hui-ju’s shocking collapse, Episode 7 has set the stage for what could be the most intense chapter of Perfect Crown so far.
